Can it be fixed? Probably so. Certainly for products welded in the first place. Welded products go south for limited and predictable reasons: design, execution, wear, accident, or your neighbor tried to fix it. Welded consumer products, for example, are often lightly built and minimally joined. We put them back together the way they were, but a tad better. Robust commercial and industrial builds are serious. When they break, or start to, people may be injured and additional property may be damaged. We approach these cases with an analytical eye. Our measures are equally serious. The bolt in bolted assemblies, by the way, rarely breaks.  It gets loose and the surrounding material fails. We restore the area. We move holes around or make holes go completely away. Includes bullet holes. Castings are not a lost cause. Keep in mind that a weld itself is a miniature casting. The microstructure, properties and use of most castings generally allow a serviceable or as-new solution. Most of our business is repair welding. Most of that is for other businesses: automotive, aircraft, marine, contracting, OEM, even other welding shops and (oops) antique dealers.
